Caught in the Net

Laugh-out loud farce at breakneck speed, written by Ray Cooney, Caught in the Net adds a modern touch to the usual mayhem, with the perils of the internet heaping more and more complications into the life of our hapless hero, taxi driver John Smith, who is still struggling to keep his two wives and families from ever knowing about his double life.

It all erupts when his daughter from one marriage comes into online contact with his son from his other marriage. Realising that they both have a father by the name of John Smith, both of whom are taxi drivers in London and both aged 53, they resolve to meet up.

When John finds out about their plans, he is pitched into a web of lies, deception and panic, creating chaos and confusion for both families, and leaving his inept lodger Stanley rushing about the flat trying to keep the lid on one crisis after the next.

Madcap chases, slapstick set-pieces, hilarious one-liners, mistaken identities, they are all present and correct, while Stanley’s aged father wanders through completely misunderstanding everything. Your mind will be reeling and that’s even before the final, perfect twist.
