Herring Girls
Herring Girls is a multimedia dance collaboration helmed by Vicci Riley. Herring Girls makes visible the remarkable stories of women that gutted and salted fish for a living. It also shines a light on the ‘silver darlings’. Movement, text, story, sound and video join forces to create an embodied folk tale. Vicci weaves facts, memories, sensation and fantasy in a journey of celebration and loss with net, salt and an ensemble of herrings.
