Bristol Ensemble is staging a series of 30 minute live, informal online recitals and talks via the orchestra's YouTube channel.
In this talk, conductor and music educator Ben England explores the evolution of ‘Ode to Joy’, a tune that Beethoven seemed unable to shake throughout his life. Discover its origins as an unpublished song (Gegenliebe WoO 135, composed in 1794 when Beethoven was only 24), and follow its development to the Choral Fantasy from 1808 and ultimately to its final form as the basis for his world-famous Ninth Symphony.
Please note: All live stream events are subject to change. Not all events listed are live performances by the artist - they also include archived concerts, DJ sets, masterclasses, Q&As and more.
