You might think you know Lenny Henry. Think again.

For this exclusive Fane Online event, the award-winning actor, writer, comedian and co-founder of Comic Relief will chart his journey from being a gangly, black teenage factory worker from Dudley turned performing prodigy, to mainstream entertainer.

Join Lenny in conversation with Naga Munchetty as he shares how he survived a tough family upbringing, along with the trauma of discovering the truth about his father at a young age, and how he found his natural ability for comedy and mimicry to be his means of coping and escape. He’ll also touch on his first years of showbusiness, in a 1970s Britain of questionable variety shows, endless seaside summer seasons, casual chauvinism and blatant racism. At every stage, he wondered: ‘Am I good enough? Is this what they want? Who am I, again?’

Riotous, warm-hearted and revealing, and with Lenny’s trademark energy, this is the heart-breakingly honest and inspirational coming-of-age story of a man who holds a very special place in British hearts. Do not miss it.
