Jules Von Hep truly established himself in the beauty industry when he changed the status quo of body inclusivity and diversity when he launched his globally recognised brand Isle of Paradise in 2018, rising at such a force it became one of Sephora’s leading brands in 2020 and trending on TikTok during the global pandemic. Channelling all that he learned from listening to clients during his 15 year career as a spray tanner, Jules broke down barriers of body diversity within the cosmetic market and created a more approachable connection for beauty consumer to brand founder.

“As a spray tanner I’ve done the lot – The X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing, Victoria’s Secret models, The Crown, endless fashion weeks and red carpets, nipple after nipple I have seen it all. Each and every client coming to me for the same hit of feel good – they want the outer glow but the inner happy. I first started to see a lack of body love when I noticed each of my clients apologise about something on their body – I’m sorry for my thighs, I’m bloated from lunch sorry, omg my toenails I’m so embarrassed – but I didn’t care! What I saw was the whole person, their laugh, the hug, the complete human being. I began to notice a consistent trend in how we see ourselves – are we really living in a society that deems who we are completely and solely based on our looks? I’m done with the constant apologising. I’m done with listening to people negatively manifest day in day out about their appearance, it’s time to love ourselves, to own our imperfections and realise we are defined as a whole unit. I want to make the world view people how I view people – complete human beings – both inside and outside.”
