Rufford Gallery Prize Talk: Tracey McMaster & David Severn
David Severn is exhibiting ‘Welcome Our Queen’ a documentary photography project looking at the historical maypole celebrations in nearby Wellow. The series of images includes portraits of former Wellow May Queens paired with historical family album pictures, alongside photographs of Maypole Day 2012.
Tracey McMaster is showing ‘John’, 2012. 8 min. A short film featuring John Pankhurst a Nottingham based mender, collector, cat owner and wine maker alongside a new film ‘Mr. Fisher’ an intimate portrayal of a ‘pigeon fancier’ who, now in his seventies, has kept and raced pigeons since he was a 12 year-old boy. This and other new works were inspired by the children’s story “The Secret World of Polly Flint”, written by a Nottinghamshire author Helen Creswell (1934-2005). The story is set in Wellow and Rufford.
David and Tracey will also be in the gallery to talk to about their work on
