Music In The Chapel - Beethoven 'mass In C'
Oakham Choral Society & Orchestra
Beethoven - Mass in C, op. 86
Beethoven - Choral Fantasy, op. 80
Reinecke - Ballade, op. 288
Jessica Carr (flute), Anne Bolt (piano)
Harry Jacques & Peter Davis (conductor)
Join the Oakham Choral Society and Orchestra in the Chapel for a concert celebrating 250 years since the birth of the great German composer, Ludwig van Beethoven. Commissioned by Prince Nikolaus Esterházy in 1807, the Mass in C is a mighty and yet humble work, described as bridging church and concert hall music together better than almost any other piece. Despite being one of Beethoven's lesser-known works, the Mass in C is an unmistakably remarkable work combining spirituality and humanity.
The concert will also feature Beethoven's exhilarating, Choral Fantasy featuring Head of Piano, Anne Bolt, as soloist, and Form 6 music scholar, Jessica Carr, will be the featured soloist in Reinecke's Ballade for solo flute and orchestra.
