Who Is Einstein And What Is Relativity?

A light hearted talk by professor Derek Raine of Leicester University to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.

Professor Derek Raine, MBE, received his PhD from Cambridge in 1972 for work on General Relativity. He has been a lecturer at the University of Leicester since 1975. He is currently emeritus professor at Leicester and associate director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science which he founded in 2003. He is the author of several books on relativity and cosmology including Einstein and Relativity.

For his work on science education he was awarded the Bragg Medal of the Institute of Physics, a National Teaching Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and the MBE. He currently chairs the Higher Education Advisory Group of the Institute of Physics and is editor of the journal New Directions in Physical Science.
