Based on the true story of the Van Trapp Family Singers, The Sound of Music tells the tale of the postulant Maria Rainer whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children, Maria transforms the Von Trapp fmaily home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy, with laughter, and with music.
The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the Von Trapp Family will once again thrill you with its Tony, Grammy and Academy Award winning Best Score, including 'My Favorite Things', 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain', 'Edelweiss' and the title song.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Liundsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp.
