Sam and Jamie were originally booked to play for us in June 2023 but we were shocked when Sam was unexpectedly rushed into hospital just before their gig at Grayshott and we had to postpone their visit. Thankfully, with the right professional care and correct medication, Sam pulled through a very difficult time and was able to resume touring the country with Jamie soon afterwards.

Sam Kelly is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning singer, song-writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He heads up his own band called Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys (nominated for Best Group at the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards), many of whom (Evan Carson, Archie Churchill-Moss, Ciaran Algar and Toby Shaer), have played for us at Grayshott Folk Club over the years with other bands.

Jamie Francis is in that same band but he has also been Sam's longest-serving musical partner and they have been collaborating and performing together since their University days in 2010. In this duo, Sam sings and plays Guitar, whilst Jamie plays Banjo (although Jamie also plays a mean Guitar).

Multi award-winning Folk singers and musicians Sam Kelly and Jamie Francis share a common interest in roots music. They are two of the most respected and innovative musicians on the current UK Folk scene. The Bristol-based duo are the main writing partnership behind the hit Folk band Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys but as a duo, they still perform inventive interpretations of traditional songs and tunes as well as toe-tapping original compositions together at Folk clubs, venues and Festivals. In between these, they tell (occasionally) funny anecdotes and stories of their misadventures.

Along the way, Sam has been a go-to guest musician who has been specially invited to play in bands alongside the likes of Kate Rusby, Seth Lakeman, Kris Drever, Phil Beer and John McCusker. Jamie's credits include stints playing with Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon and Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.
