Peru was born sometime in early 1992. Three close friends - Brian Price, Chris Smith and John Coolin - then in their late-teens, sat spinning C86-era records and drinking beer before their nights out dancing at Nottingham’s Rock City thinking: ‘We should start a band like this.’ So they did! Following a move to Bristol for one of the founder members, Brian Price has got a new band together and started writing new material in 2010. A recent compilation on Jigsaw Records (USA) and a self-released 7" single on Archdeacon Of Pop records have put Peru back in the indiepop spotlight.

A three piece indiepop band from Leeds. David Kitchen (The Acutes, Angry Sandwich) plays a baby Yamaha keyboard through a mighty speaker, Adam John Miller (Manhattan Love Suicides, The Medusa Snare, The Wednesday Club) plays fuzz bass and Eddy Lines (Manhattan Love Suicides, Downdime) plays drums. A collaboration project that quickly took on momentum, the result is an uptempo blend of lo-fi pop, krautrock and dancefloor indie.
