Made in the aftermath of the First World War, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the quintessential German Expressionist film masterpiece. Robert Wiene’s distorted sets, sinister shadows and unnerving characters creating a paranoid, unreal world at a time of despair throughout Europe.

Minima’s original soundtrack strikes up an unexpected relationship with the images on screen, teasing out the film’s melancholy humour. The four-piece (drums, bass, guitar and cello) stalk the film, their unique sonic palette complementing the film’s unsettling experience of mistrust and madness.
