Joy Of Nothing World Tour: Foy Vance + Rams Pocket Radio
Foy Vance will play a string of dates across the UK in November and December in support of his new album, 'Joy Of Nothing'.
Born in the North Ireland town of Bangor, his passion for traditional music was born in the southern states of America. Foy has spent a considerable amount of time on the road, touring with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Michael Kiwanuka, Marcus Foster, Snow Patrol, and Ed Sheeran. Foy also scored Oscar-winning short-film The Shore with David Holmes, who collaborated with Vance on his 2012 Melrose EP. Foy's newest album, Joy Of Nothing, will be released this year.
With his latest album, 'Joy Of Nothing,' - the first effort for his new label Glassnote (home of Mumford and Sons, Phoenix and more) - Foy Vance has crafted a masterwork of the sweet hurt of love and what it does to the men and women involved with all of the fallout.
An intelligent singer / songwriter with a sublime voice, funky guitar style and a clever turn of phrase. His musical palette of folk, soul, blues, gospel and jazz is an evolving journey, a constant search for artistic expression captured in the moment, operating well away from industry standards. Surely you’ll hear echoes of Otis Redding, Richie Havens, Tom Waits and Van Morrison in Foy’s music, legends he’s already being compared to and definite influences. An ever so modest Foy will laugh at these comparisons, but then again that’s what makes him so special.
