Growing Pains
‘He’s got a knife, and he’s not afraid to use it. How did this likeable, working-class young Northerner end up poised and ready to stab someone, staring into the red of their eyes?’
Carrying the weight of the world in his sports bag, a working class lad trades his mates for a one-way ticket out of Salford. Combining quick-witted lyricism with original songs, Tom Gill’s genre-bending and unflinching drama takes us on a poetic journey from heartache to redemption, against the backdrop of Ladbrokes, broke lads, and sh*t dads.
Without question, Tom Gill is one of the most edgy and vital voices on the Spoken Word scene. Critically-acclaimed Growing Pains originated at Battersea Arts Centre, enjoyed a sell-out run at Edinburgh Festival in 2016 and is now on a UK tour.
