The Deep Blue Sea
The Norwich Players present:
'The Deep Blue Sea' by Terence Rattigan is considered by many to be his finest work and was written at the height of Rattigan’s fame.
Set in the early 1950s, The Deep Blue Sea is a moving play about forbidden love, suppressed desire and the fear of loneliness.
It tells the day-in-the-life story of Hester who has left her comfortable but uninspiring marriage with High Court judge, Sir William Collyer and is living with her reckless lover Freddie Page, a former RAF pilot and hero of the Second World War.
What started as a vibrant and passionate affair, awakening Hester's sexuality, has grown cold leaving the couple emotionally stranded and physically isolated.
Directed by Pip Sessions.
