Viva Italia - Rossini'sPetite Messe Solennelle

Bubbling with wit and good humour, the Northampton Bach Choir performs Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini accompanied by piano and harmonium.

Rossini arranged a first performance on the 24th April 1865 in a private house with just twelve singers, the four soloists also singing in the choruses, and the composer 'turned over' for the keyboard players.

In this performance the piano will be played by Northampton born David Owen Norris, virtuoso pianist, broadcaster and composer and one of the most iconic personalities in present day English music. He will be playing on his own Pleyel Grand Piano made in 1887, almost exactly contemporaneous with Rossini’s composition.

Conductor: Lee Dunleavy

Soprano - Una Barry
Alto - Eleanor Minney
Tenor - Joseph Cornwell
Bass - Ian Caddy

Piano - David Owen Norris
