Although composed in America, Dvorák’s magnificent Cello Concerto expresses the melodic inflections derived from Czech folk music with a continuous flow of invention and lyricism, performed by world-class cellist, Natalie Clein.
Ravel’s magical fairy-tale music of his Mother Goose Suite, childlike and appealing, delicate and poignant, is also performed.
The orchestra closes the concert with one of the most dynamic and exciting works from the beginning of the twentieth-century, Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.
