Mary Webb: Journeys In Colour
Mary Webb has been exploring colour and form through bold abstract paintings and prints for almost five decades.
Webb studied under Richard Hamilton and Victor Pasmore at Newcastle University in the late 50s/early 60s before embarking on a career as an artist and teacher.
Inspired by travel and landscape, Webb formed a close artistic relationship with Sonia Delaunay, who she began to visit in Paris in the late 60s. This retrospective exhibition examines Webb’s work in relation to the modernist tradition through painting, print and collage, as well as material from the artist's archive.
