Two very different bands but both spawned from afrobeat brought to life with big brass sections and infectious raw energy.
Agbeko are an afrobeat-inspired rock-funk-psych juggernaut from Manchester, an onslaught of horns, guitars, percussion and gutsy vocals, the eleven-strong outfit deliver powerful songs packed with riffs, groove and lyrical prowess to move gig-goers, festival throngs and afro-funk afficionados alike.
Ponyland; a head on collision of live afro-beat, punk and jazz with pounding tribal drums. Expect galloping grooves that will make your legs rattle uncontrollably, and 110% commitment to unhinged, masked menagerie mischievousness. Think polyrhythms, syncopated beats, thunderous ritualistic drums, improvisation with punk scuzz or the bastard love child of Sun Ra and Lightning Bolt.
