Unearthed / The Gift

Two main-stage double-bills will look at the time the Hoard went into the ground and the time it was discovered.

Unearthed, a documentary play by New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins, is a modern detective story looking at the mystery of the Hoard. It is based on 80 hours of new interviews with those surrounding the find, including the metal detectorist who found the Hoard, the first archaeologists on the scene, experts and historians including Michael Wood.

It’s partnered with The Gift by Jemma Kennedy (The Prince and the Pauper, Unicorn Theatre), an epic romance about a treasure which turns husbands against wives and friends into enemies.
