West Kirby Musical Theatre Company (WKMTC) present: Chess The Musical
The company are thrilled to be returning to the Floral Pavilion for their 70th anniversary production with a fresh new staging of this fabulously entertaining show.
At the height of the Cold War, two of the world’s greatest chess masters, the American Freddie Trumper and the serious Russian champion, Anatoly Sergievsky arrive in Merano for their World Chess Championship match. As their battle for the world title gets under way, they are both in danger of becoming the pawns of their governments. Simultaneously, their lives are thrown into further confusion by Freddie’s second, the former Hungarian refugee Florence Vassy, who becomes the centre of an emotional love triangle when she falls for the Russian.
A story of passion, betrayal and politics all set to the beating pulse of a breathtakingly lush, compelling rock score which includes great songs such as “Nobody’s side”, “Pity the child”, “Anthem”, the international hit single, “One night in Bangkok” and the show-stopping “I know him so well”.
All prices advertised include a booking fee. No fees to Friends of the Floral. A postage fee may apply.
