'A Celebratory Reading of the Poetry of Mary Webb with Gladys Mary Coles'

Gladys Mary Coles combines her performance of Mary Webb's poems with a fascinating narrative on the influence of Shropshire, the joys and sorrows of the poet's personal life and her affinity with Housman, John Clare and Edward Thomas.

The leading authority on Mary Webb, Gladys Mary Coles is herself a prize-winning poet and novelist. She is internationally known for her pathfinding books on the Shropshire author, including a major biography The Flower of Light ('Book of the Year' in the Times and Birmingham Post) and her acclaimed Selected Poems of Mary Webb, now in a third edition. Gladys Mary has lectured widely on Mary Webb, broadcast on BBC TV and Radio 4, and is President of the Mary Webb Society.
