A Poetry Workshop: 'The Land Within' with Gladys Mary Coles

In this workshop we begin with an exploration of poems by Mary Webb, focusing on her imagery and how she uses technical skill in harnessing emotion. From here we will work on poems of our own, drawing on memory, experience and environment. Gladys Mary will discuss individual 'Voice' and offer advice on technique and getting published.

Gladys Mary's ten collections include Song of the Butcher Bird and The Echoing Green. She has won many awards for her work,with major prizes in the National Poetry Competition, the Cardiff International among others, and a Welsh Arts Council Writer's Award. She has PhD in Writing, lectures on poetry at Liverpool University and is Managing Editor of Headland Publications.
