Born in Amsterdam in 1948, Thijs Van Leer was brought up surrounded by classical music and culture. At the age of three he began his first piano lessons; at 10 he played solo piano at the Concertgebouw and at 11 he began flute lessons with his father.
He became the flautist, singer and Hammond organ player for the world-renowned band Focus. After creating a solo double album, he is currently touring, sitting behind the grand piano telling his life story,
accompanied by Menno Gootjes on acoustic guitar.
