Bear Brand And Boogie Woogie!
Set in Birmingham during modern day and WW2, the show tells how the girls of Cadbury’s B Block Packing Line alleviate their boredom by smuggling letters inside tins of chocolates destined as emergency rations for shipwrecked troops.
The suspicions of the girls’ long suffering supervisor are aroused when gifts of lipstick, chewing gum and Bear Brand stockings appear in the packing room. Terrified that news of the girls’ antics will get back to “Her Majesty” (Dame Elizabeth Cadbury) she blackmails her charges into taking part in a concert for injured troops being held in the works canteen. Based on the diaries of Margaret Smith, retold by her daughter Ali Smith.
