Space Lectures And Star Gazing

Space - Software meets Science, The Legacy of Apollo, Moon Rock and Star Gazing.

Moon Rock: An amazing opportunity to view moon rock samples collected during NASA's manned space missions to the Moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Space - Software meets Science: Steve Brignall, Technical Director from SCISYS PLC covers the subject 'Space is big and the conditions are extreme.'

Getting a spacecraft to the planets is a complex engineering activity. While a lot of hard engineering work is needed to create and launch the spacecraft, none of this could be achieved without software to make it happen and to ensure the space mission is successful.

The Legacy of Apollo: Nick Howes will talk on the legacy of the Apollo space program in thecontext of Human Spaceflight in the 21st Century. From Yuri Gagarin to Tim Peake, how far we have progressed. With actual Apollo flown and launch hardware in his personal collection being displayed at the talk.

Nick has appeared on both BBC television and radio, he regularly features as the official astronomer for the BBC in the South West of England.

Star Gazing - After the lectures you are welcome to participate in star gazing, either bring your own telescope or use one of theirs.
