Founded in 1968, the Fitzwilliam is now one of the longest established string quartets in the world, achieving international recognition for its close association with Dmitri Shostakovich and its championing of his works.
The Fitzwilliams, including alumna Sally Pendlebury, close Chetham’s 50th anniversary chamber music programme with two works by Shostakovich, alongside one of Mozart’s most celebrated compositions in the genre and Haydn’s witty and energetic ‘Frog’.
