On George Eliot
The eagerly anticipated new book from virtuoso writer Patricia Duncker, Sophie and the Sibyl spirits you away to 1970s Berlin in the company of George Eliot.
Populated by characters and scenes from Eliot’s books and steeped in the tradition of the Victorian novel, it explores Darwinism, education for women, the role of the narrator and the thorny relationship between author and publisher.
The event will be hosted by Libby Tempest.
