Resurrected after a superb debut run across Greater Manchester in May, comes this Ortonesque farce of family, money and mortality set in the front room of a Manchester working class home the night before a funeral.

Domineering mum Sal lies in state before her family – perpetually panic-struck son Randall and his down-trodden brow-beaten sister Carol. The squabbling siblings are joined by sick note Sheila the nosey neighbour and her hen-pecked husband a decidedly drunken Doug.

All four are coming to terms with grief but also trying to get their hands on Sal’s secret treasure trove located below the floorboards under the coffin.

Penned by Media City based Sarah Cassidy – co writer of All FM radio soap opera Station Road – Bleeding with Mother is a rib-tickling comedy with the rattle of the bone yard about it. With a score from The Smiths, it could only have been created in Manchester.
