This evening’s concert is the fruit of their ongoing project with musicians and teachers from Manchester’s twin city, St. Petersburg. Since 1984 the Kalinka Balalaika Orchestra has provided a unique platform for young people learning Russian instruments – balalaika and domra – and has gained wide recognition for innovation in music education.
Oustanding performances by leading local and invited players, with guest appearances by our colourful dancers and exuberant young singers, make this a real pre-Christmas musical feast.
In aid of disadvantaged children in St. Petersburg.
