The Kaptivators, Cassia

On 26th August Label are hosting a body positive arts festival in Islington Mill, an amazing arts venue in Salford. This one night festival will feature music, film and art all themed around body positivity.

Music:

They will be premiering their theme tune composed by the incredible Tasha Sofla exclusively for Label. The piece will be played by Mike Bramhall, who travelled with the world famous Wayne Sleep.

The first band they have announced is The Kaptivators, an incredible Mancunian band who gained loads of attention around their incredible performances in Battle of the Bands.

The next band in the line up is Cassia, a young group of three who are enviably successful for their age and have already gathered quite a following.

Film:

The Manchester Indie Film group are contributing a series of short films with everything from an expression of Mancunian idenities to the experience of growing up with a disability.

A fashion photographer and model based in New York, and specialising in capturing beauty in natural light.

Lisa de Cunha
A versatile artist, specialising in nudes, represented through body performance to print making, and line drawings to classical works.

David Upton
A photographer based in Manchester, exploring people’s bodies in movement and creating colourful, vibrant images.

Amanda Milligan
An artist aiming to investigate their personal identity through their projects, using Dada style sculptures as a way of assembling found objects.

Allie Crewe
A lifestyle photographer with a particular interest in the female body; allowing women to feel beautiful and powerful in her shots. She began as a media lecturer, with a focus on the male gaze and what constructing a female gaze might mean.

Lucy Shaw
An and coming artist in Manchester, theming her work around body positivity.

Mary Burke
An artist contributing drawings from two recovery journals, documenting recovery following brain injury and hand surgery.

A Manchester based photography exploring Mancunian identities and capturing personalities in an image.

An up and coming artist based between Manchester and Scotland, as the founder of Label herself is, and exploring what these identities mean.
