The Performer's Playground

An introduction to finding freedom on stage through gameplay, fun and imagination - drawing from Mark's work with Philippe Gaulier, John Wright (Trestle), Aitor Basauri and more.

Mark Winstanley (co-founder of The Performer's Playground) trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Ecole Philippe Gaulier.

He has a passion for teaching clown and is curious about work that has a playful connection with the audience.

As a performer he works closely with A Ship of Fools Theatre Company creating bouffon theatre that seeks to shine a light onto the dark and shadowy bits of ourselves that we find difficult to admit to.

In 2016 he started the That's Not Funny Cabaret to raise money for Mind and City and Hackney Mind. He is also the creator of The Southend Fringe Festival 2016, a student led theatre festival that sought to empower students with production skills.
