PlayBox Takeover: My Voice Was Heard But It Was Ignored by Nana-Kofi Kufuor

A rehearsed reading of PlayBox writer Nana-Kofi Kuofor’s new play written during his year-long attachment with Box of Tricks as part of their day-long takeover. In a classroom over the course of an hour, a teacher and a student dissect a traumatic experience fuelled by racism and a sense of wanting to belong.

Kofi is a writer from Stockport whose style of writing comes from his experiences growing up in Stockport with Ghanaian parents. He writes plays about working class people, the people who mainstream media forget about or villainize.

PlayBox is a year-long writer-on-attachment programme with Box of Tricks offering bespoke residencies and support to three early career North West playwrights.
