Get Creative Family Arts Festival: Elmer The Elephant
Elmer is different. Elmer is patchwork. Elmer is not elephant colour. Tired of being laughed at, Elmer the Elephant disguises his multi-coloured patchwork skin to fit in with the other elephants. But far from gaining acceptance, his plan backfires and he is only welcomed into the herd once his true colours are revealed.
Following the success of Giraffe’s Can’t Dance, Manchester’s award-winning orchestra returns to Hallé St Peter’s in Ancoats, Manchester, to present David McKee’s classic celebration of individuality. Here to bring the story to life in this interactive concert are nine outstanding Hallé musicians and a dancer. See the Hallé as you’ve never seen them before – acting, dancing and even singing!
The performance is a perfect 40 minute introduction to instruments of the orchestra, ideal for children aged 3-7 years. The score for this half-term concert is composed by the Hallé’s Education Director Steve Pickett, back for the third year as part of the Family Arts Festival.
Based on the book ‘Elmer’ by David McKee, used with the kind permission of Andersen Press.
Part of the Get Creative Family Arts Festival, a national festival of arts events designed especially for families.
