An Evening With
On the heels of her widely celebrated appointment as Scottish Makar, theyare delighted to host an intimate event with poet, author and playwright Jackie Kay in the beautiful Hallé St Peter’s.
Jackie’s first collection of poetry, The Adoption Papers, was published in 1991 and was awarded the Forward Prize, Saltire Award and Scottish Book Council Award. Since then, she has written six outstanding collections including Off Colour, Life Mask and Fiere, three collections of short stories and the acclaimed memoir Red Dust Road.
Her debut novel Trumpet, a beautiful multi-voiced account of the life of a transgender jazz musician, won the Guardian Fiction Prize and was recently reissued as a Picador Classic with a foreword by Ali Smith.
Currently the Chancellor of Salford University, Jackie is working on her second novel. She will read and discuss her work with Observer writer Rachel Cooke.
