The Manchester Opera Ensemble

Manchester Opera Ensemble will be returning to the Manchester music scene with this exciting tour of a double bill of comic operas. They will be performing Menotti's - The Telephone and Offenbach's - A Husband at the Door, both to be performed in English with piano accompaniment.

The Telephone tells the story of Lucy and Ben, a young couple living in the city and Ben has a big question to ask. If only Lucy's prize-position, a vintage telephone, would stop ringing!

A Husband at the Door is a French farce based in 1910s Paris and tells the story of Florestan, a composer on the run from husbands and creditors, who gets locked into his hiding place when two women, Suzanne and Rosita, seek refuge in the room after an argument. When Suzanne's husband arrives at the door of the room a series of increasingly humourous events begin to unfold.
