One of the more remarkable and intense concert experiences of current times is to witness Sir András Schiff play Bach’s mightiest keyboard work, the Goldberg Variations in a rare and special performance.

They are a tour de force of musical invention which the performer must match with sustained concentration. Moving through a vast circle of contrasting styles, textures and contrapuntal devices, after thirty variations the music returns with tranquil finality to the memorable ‘aria’ which set the work in motion.
