Back by popular demand Brighter Sound and Global Grooves present Hand Drums and Percussion Course with Lea Mullen and Chris Cruiks. Explore the role of the percussionist in bands and other group settings. A course for players of all levels from beginner to advanced. Fun, friendly and informative!

Use congas and hand drums with a selection of hand percussion instruments and learn their importance and place in any musical setting from latin to hiphop.

Learn new skills and techniques from two of the UK's finest players. Create percussive beats and grooves in small group settings and fit them into a full band groove with expert coaching from Lea and Chris.

This is an open level course suitable for players of any level from beginner to advanced and highly recommended for all would-be percussionists and drummers. The classes are divided into groups based on levels of experience working with both tutors.

Beginners: Learn to use fundamental techniques and the basics of a good sound. Skills which are transferrable on other drums and percussion instruments. Also gain an understanding of layered rhythms and how they are put together with an ensemble.

More Advanced: Learn to incorporate different timelines and floating hand techniques plus ideas on phrasing and playing solos. Some experience of hand drumming is necessary for the advanced group. This course is great for those who want to play in bands and collaborate with other musicians on jam nights, performances or in a recording setting.

They can provide a selection of instruments to use in sessions although we would advise you to bring your own if you have them.
