The event will open with a workshop to help you find out how to make the most of your membership, acting as a great introduction for new members.

Then join PRS for Music and a panel of experienced music industry professionals, who have hands on experience from across the music industry including Funding, Artist Management, PR, Record Labels, Legal and, of course, PRS. Find out what they do, how they got to be doing that and how their experience could help you develop your own on stage or backstage career in the music industry.

Event details:

6.00pm to 6:50pm:
New members workshop - Make the most of your PRS for Music membership

Where?
Band On The Wall - The Picturehouse Bar

This workshop will take you through the website, explaining the key basic functions that you will need to carry out as a new PRS member, such as registering songs, claiming royalties for live shows and unpaid performances.

7.00pm – 8.15pm
Panel 1 – The Business of Music - ‘Making money from Music'

Where? Band On The Wall - Main Venue

Evolution or revolution, the music industry is changing and DIY is at the heart of it. Maybe you’re self-releasing or helping a mate book some live shows, managing your own band or managing someone else’s, handling the socials or building a promo campaign, writing the songs, creating the beats, sitting in the studio or running around on stage, whatever you’re doing, it’s crucial that you understand the way the industry works. Otherwise how can you make it work for you?

This panel will be discussing topics such as the importance of locking down your business, understanding and protecting your rights and the various ways making music can make an income.

8:25pm to 9:40pm
Panel 2 - The Business of Music - ‘Beats, Meets and Tour Sheets'

Despite what the artist might believe, it’s not all about them. It’s also about the manager, the PR, the solicitor, the producer, the songwriter, the sound engineer, the booker, the list goes on. The artist is at the top of a very big pyramid, with a huge number of people working to getting them to the top and keep them there. And every one of these roles is another creative career opportunity in the music industry.

Panellists drawn from across the music industry will be sharing on what they actually do, how they got their roles, who else is on the team, what kind of money can be earned, what skills are needed and how you can best go about carving out your own career in the music industry.

9:40pm to 11.00pm - Networking

The evening closes with a networking session and the chance to meet various Music Industry organisations.

They look forward to seeing you there!
