Featuring - Markus Birdman

Markus Birdman appearing at this event

Markus is an original and highly talented stand up. He has been described by the BBC as “the all-round package; witty, controversial, hip, topical, silly. A master of timing and physical comedy." His relationship with the Beeb goes back to his performance at the Edinburgh Festival in 2001 as part of Screaming Blue Murder's Big Value Show and as a finalist in the televised BBC New Comedy Awards 2001. He was nominated for the NZ Comedy Guild Award as Best International Artist 2014.

'The crowd fell for his dry, witty, confused little boy mutt-schtick in a big way' (The Observer)

'Delightfully comic. Controversial, personal and wickedly punchy' (The List)

'Birdman cuts a dashing figure, elegant, smart, theatrical. A hugely entertaining hour of thoughtful, heartfelt, mature comedy, performed with great energy and dynamism... Engagingly mixes the silly and the downright wrong' (Chortle)

'... already on his way up...' (Time Out)

'Second to none' (Adelaide Advertiser)

'Infectious, likeable and popular... A consummate comic... energetic, engaging, thought-provoking and funny' (The Stage).

Jimmy McGhie

Jimmy McGhie appearing at this event

Jimmy McGhie is a highly regarded young stand-up and comic performer, appearing on the UK and international comedy circuit to great acclaim. A finalist in

the BBC New Talent competition, Jimmy is one of Britain's hottest comedy talents.

Having already built up a solid fan base, his 2009 and 2010 Edinburgh solo shows were complete sell-outs. Having appeared on Russell Howard's Good News, Jimmy's comedy stock is set to go into the stratosphere.

'A performance that demonstrates he meets all the requirements needed to

become a TV star' (British Comedy Guide)

'There are few comics I can think of who have the sheer star quality of Jimmy McGhie. He is the perfect little comedy package' (The Scotsman)

'Hilarious and lovable... A fantastic storyteller' (Three Weeks).

Dave Fulton

Dave Fulton appearing at this event

Whoever it was who decided that Americans don't have any sense of irony, they forgot to tell Dave Fulton. This wry Seattle wag is positively brimming over with ironic invective.

With his stringy beard, straggly long hair and rock 'n' roll black leather jacket, Fulton looks more like a refugee from a defunct British heavy metal band than an all-American stand-up... there's a salty flavour to his live club set that you'd scarcely describe as feminist. It's these contradictions that make Fulton so fascinating, and fun to watch, especially when he's riffing with British punters half a world away from home. (The Guide).

"It's only comics with something to say that cross the Atlantic." The Guardian

"Fulton is left as a sole crusader for US topical comedy." The List
