A conversation between award winning British / Turkish writer Elif Shafak and Elizabeth Filippouli, Founder of the Global Thinkers Forum and Athena40.
Elif was born in Turkey and Elizabeth was born in Greece. Their common passion to support and empower women worldwide brought them together and five years ago a lifetime friendship was born. Elif is an award-winning novelist and the most widely read female author in Turkey. She has written 17 books, 11 of which are novels including Booker nominated 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World. Translated into 50 languages, Shafak is a political scientist, a women’s rights and LGBT rights activist and a twice TED Global speaker. An honorary fellow at Oxford University St Anne’s College, she has been awarded the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and she is a member of the Royal Society of Literature.
Elizabeth is a journalist and social entrepreneur. She is the Founder & CEO of the Global Thinkers Forum, an international non profit organization promoting values-based leadership and collaboration. In 2018 she founded Athena40, an initiative recognizing women of pioneering thinking and positive impact.
