We Can Be Heroes

We Can Be Heroes is a family friendly, daytime disco for grown-up geeks and kid sidekicks. It's for fans of comic books, superheroes, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons and every aspect of geek culture, past and present. It's a whole afternoon of awesome!

The music is a mix of blockbuster soundtracks and 80s pop, upbeat indie and big, silly rock. Expect to hear The Ramones, AC/DC, Weird Al, Weezer, Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, They Might Be Giants, Violent Femmes, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Kenny Loggins, John Williams and more. All played at a child-friendly volume that's still perfect for dancing.

A dressing up box with superhero costumes is provided, as well as games and puzzles to play, books to read, and loads of drawing materials available for budding comic artists. There will be also be superhero face painting by Love LaTouche. Plus, all ticket holders will get 20% off at Yard Sale Pizza, directly opposite the Trades Hall. Just show your hand stamp when you order, and it's cowabunga, dudes!

Dressing up really creates the atmosphere. Whilst we don't have a strict costume policy, we want you - grown-ups and kids - to come dressed up as your favourite characters from comics, films, sci-fi or fantasy. Hero or villain? The choice is yours.

There will be no admission to adults unless they're part of a group that includes children. So friends, grandparents, mentors, stoic and long-suffering manservants, etc. are all welcome. We are operating an inclusive event, and we want it to be both safe and fun for everyone who comes along.

Walthamstow Trades Hall is located just off of Hoe Street, a 5-minute walk from Walthamstow Central and directly opposite Yard Sale Pizza. It has a dance floor, plenty of seating, and a bar with 1990s prices.
