The translation of Ein Heldenleben is A Hero’s Life, and Strauss aims to tell the story of his life using snippets of his own music alongside depictions of sniping music critics and his wife.

Dvo?ák also likes to tell stories in his music, and the opening piece tells the tale of a mischevious young boy whose mother tells him if he doesn’t behave that the noonday witch will come for him.
