Polica, the super slick electronic pop-soul outfit fronted by ice cool vocalist Channy Leanagh, rapidly become one of 2012's most talked about bands after a whirlwind SXSW. Drowned In Sound named them band of the festival and they were favourites for many others including The Times and The Telegraph. Their single 'Dark Star' was a radio hit, getting 'Record Of The Week' accolades from Huw Stephens and Fearne Cotton, as well as Zane Lowe's 'Album of the Week' for the addictive Give You The Ghost. "You could waste days trying to define the genre in which Polica operate, but actually it's just pop – incredibly beautiful – pop" - The Sunday Times

Andrew W.K.'s blood soaked on stage antics and foot-stamping, head-banging adrenaline fuelled rock sound produced an orgy of approving coverage in the music press and made it cool to be metal, so long as you don't actually use the M-word.

Baths is the stage name of one Will Weisenfeld from Los Angeles, California. He came to prominence as one of the first wave of musicians making electronic music of astounding beauty out of their bedrooms back at the turn of the decade. His music, which merged the glitchy, punishing gloom of L.A.’s beat scene with sunnier melodies and vocals that often drifted into falsetto, was an instant sensation. As always, Baths is unafraid to run counter to his surroundings: delicate when others are posturing, gripping and visceral where others drift into the digital morass.

Wicked hip hop three piece based in Edinburgh, slinky in attitude, dosed up on dope beats. The NME once described them as being 'locked somewhere between De La Soul and 3T, but re-imagined for the hipster generation'. Their debut 2014 album 'Dead' won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize award, fighting off competition from the likes of Damon Albarn, Bombay Bicycle Club and Royal Blood, while their 3rd album; 2018's 'Cocoa Sugar', was their highest charting album to date in the UK along with cracking the US Heatseekers chart. The band also had 6 songs featured on the 'T2 Trainspotting' soundtrack, with director Danny Boyle describing it as "the heartbeat of the film".

Fat White Family
Formed in a squat in Peckham in 2011, South London's Fat White Family comprise Lias Saoudi (vocals), Nathan Saudi (keyboard), Adam Harmer (guitar), Martin Dead (drummer), and Saul Adaczewski (guitar). Their albums and live shows have garnered critical and public adulation for their skuzzy mix of country, rock & roll, post-punk, and nihilistic psychedelia, recalling the likes of the Fall, the Birthday Party, Butthole Surfers, and Charles Manson. Various band members have also had successful side-projects, including Moonlandingz and Insecure Men.

Prepare to have your minds blown by Dutch multi-instrumentalist Jacco Gardner. Mining the past can be tricky business, but Gardner maneuvers his way around the trappings by not simply aping his influences, but by creating a unique & stirring new voice in modern psychedelic pop music.

Noise oriented post punk rock from Norway, think Melvins / Jesus Lizard. While orthodoxy and predictably has taken its toll on the once so exciting Norwegian Black Metal scene, a quite different breed of metal is establishing itself in the northern outpost of our civilisation. At the forefront of a scene boiling with sludgy and industrial metal is Arabrot, a band that are now about to represent for the young generation what the sum of Melvins, Throbbing Gristle and Swans was to the generation before them.

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats
Arriving at an abandoned barn beneath a dead summer sky, Uncle Acid sets up his crackling vintage tweed amp. Nestled between bales of hay he sings tales of murder, lust and horror. He is soon joined by two female deadbeats he met hitchhiking. Playing on battered old pawn shop instruments, the trio record their tales onto a broken 8 track tape machine. A strange dynamic appears within the band, as Acid reveals himself as leader and controller of minds. The band has now taken over the barn. Illegal electricity powers old televisions and amplifiers. Old horror films play constantly as the trio delve deeper into a strange understanding based on drugs, lust and control. The music continues...

One half of Chicago Indie-rock duo The Fiery Furnaces and former partner of Alex from Franz Ferdinand (their song 'Eleanor Put Your Boots On' was written for her!). As a solo artist, Eleanor has released four albums of pure perfect Indiepop, a sound far more accessible than the arty experimental works of her former band. "No-fuss, featherlight acoustic pop songs weave into one another seamlessly, Friedberger’s melodies familiar and redolent of artists like Harry Nilsson and Neil Young without playing like nostalgia" - Pitchfork.

Eyedress is the solo project of Philippino Idris Vicuña, lead guitarist of lo-fi, garage pop outfit, Bee Eyes. A mix of slow beats, sauntering synths, and washed out vocals, Eyedress's songs are inspired by new wave, Super Nintendo, mistrust, loss, and psychedelic drugs. In 2012, Eyedress debuted with Half Japanese, along with a self-titled 3-inch CD from French label, Beko. These two releases demonstrate Vicuña's ability to use ultra-chill beats and slurry, drowned out vocals to craft a dark, retro-futurist take on contemporary synth pop.

Sublime Indiepop from Toronto, Canada, fronted by Molly Rankin. Their sound is a lush wall of lo-fi jingly-jangly surf guitars with echoes of Best Coast meets Talulah Gosh and the C-86 era. After touring with the likes of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Peter Bjorn And John, Alvvays soon found themselves on the BBC 6Music playlist with their addictively catchy single 'Marry Me, Archie'. Their debut album went straight to no.1 on the US college charts.
