Daylight Music: Darren Hayman Presents Thankful Villages
A lazy afternoon with music, tea and cake. An event for all ages.
A Thankful Village is a village where every soldier returned home alive after World War One. There are 54 in Great Britain. Darren Hayman visited each of them and, focussing on village life, made a piece of music and short film for every one. Some take the form of short instrumentals inspired by the location, some are interviews with villagers set to music and others are new songs with lyrics or found local traditional songs. At this show, Darren will present a collection of stories from all three volumes of his Thankful Villages project on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
