Sheridan's great comedy The Rivals (1775), which is famously set in fashionable 18th-century Bath, and partly based on the dramatist's own romantic adventures in the spa town. This is one of those occasions when you can just sit back and enjoy some terrific performances in a beautifully designed production of a tried and tested classic.

Among a strong supporting cast, Tam Williams deftly captures both the hypocrisy and the genuine charm of Jack, while Tony Gardner is both touching and hilarious as Faulkland, a man who threatens to destroy his own and his beloved's happiness with a mad, gnawing jealousy.

It's a beautifully pitched production that delicately brings depth to this delightful comedy while also capturing its sheer joie-de-vivre.
