Aleksandra Topczewska Quartet featuring members of Tomorrow's Warriors will perform a set of contemporary arrangements of compositions by the great Charlie Parker and a set of music inspired by the Brecker Brothers Out of the Loop album - an influential amalgam of post-bop jazz, hip-hop and funk. There will be commentary involved outlining the milestones of Parker's career and talking about his most well known compositions.

Line-up: Aleksandra Topczewska alto sax, Roella Orolo piano, Mutale Chashi bass & Romarna Campbell drums + Special Guest: Dennis Rollins Trombone

PLEASE NOTE: The Spice of Life has been working hard and has provided extra staff to meet the government requirements (social distancing and table service) to ensure a safe environment for our audience. We have been advised to recommend a minimum spend of £10/£15 (2 pints of beer or a main meal) from each audience member to make it viable for the artists and the Spice of Life pub.

The nine-piece Tomorrow’s Warriors Female Frontline developed out of the award-winning Tomorrow’s Warriors Artist Development Programme based at Southbank Centre. Led by saxophonist Aleksandra Topszewska under the tutelage of Gary Crosby OBE, they’ve gained a reputation for playing upbeat jazz standards, with contemporary arrangements of well-known classics.

Dennis Rollins

Best known for his work with Courtney Pine and the Jazz Warriors, Dennis Rollins brings a unique and exciting approach to the trombone in a repertoire of groove-based, funky dance music with jazz overtones.
