Matt Roberts Biggish Band

Matt Roberts' Biggish Band – Charismatic young trumpeter and composer who has garnered acclaim through his big band appearances at previous LJFs.

This year he returns with his leaner version of the big band featuring top players such as trumpeter Tom Walsh, trombonist Trevor Mires, tenor saxophonist Leo Richardson and the rhythm ‘engine room’ of bassist Andy Robb and drummer Dave Hamblett.

This exciting new largish ensemble performs arrangements of his favourite jazz compositions. Expect arrangements of Ellington, Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter and Dave Holland, as well as one or two originals
