Barrel Stories Installation

A moving exploration of the practice of Caribbean parents leaving their children behind in search of a better life.

Barrel Stories is told through intimate audio testimonies collected and edited by Lisa Harewood, with sound design created by Transmission Roundhouse and our Sight and Sound collective, and features an installation by Jamaican visual artist Kelly-Ann Lindo.

In a nod to the simple containers used to ship goods and goodies to loved ones back home, Barrel Stories asks the audience to consider whether it’s possible to send love across an ocean.

Barrel Stories is being created especially for Last Word Festival in collaboration with Roundhouse Young Creatives. There will also be a special story workshop where people can share their own Barrel Stories during the festival.
