The Tempest By William Shakespeare
A storm. A shipwreck. Lost souls washed up on a mysterious island, seeking refuge, seeking home, seeking hope. But the island is not what it seems. Who does it belong to?
Prospero, magician, scholar, misplaced ruler, controls the world he believes to be his, controls the lives of those he considers his subjects. But who is he to decide who belongs and who doesn't?
Spirits and beasts, Kings and slaves, all desperately seeking to secure their future and save their place in the world.
Scrawny Cat Theatre Company returns The Rose Playhouse after their unique four women production of Richard III and the Offie Award nominated The Ghost Sonata by August Strindberg. Presenting Shakespeare's last play at the end of a year celebrating his life. The Tempest is a magical, moving, timely production exploring the nature of theatre itself; a prism to look through and try to understand who we are now, where we are from and what it means to belong in a world where the borders are always shifting.
